Soul has plenty of funk in the trunk
So yesterday was a big deal for me as I made my debut on RTR FM’s Soulsides show. I’m a fan of several shows and genres on the station so being afforded the opportunity to play on Soulsides was a real buzz and I wanted to make the most of the moment!
I decided to start the show with Sliced Tomatoes because it’s a well-known sample (thanks to Fatboy Slim’s Funk Soul Brother) and I wanted to give listeners something exciting and familiar for the start of the show. At the same time I wanted to use it as an opportunity to show how impactful Soul music from the 60’s and 70’s has been to our modern pop culture.
I went on to feature some other amazing classics and lots of soul from the 60s and 70s era which seemed to go down well judging by the 100% positive response to the studios from listeners, thanks! Don’t forget you can listen to the stream by clicking here. I’m always keen for feedback so do let me know what you thought of the show and fingers crossed this won’t just be a cameo appearance for me but something more long term. Either way, I’m grateful to Adam Fox for the slot and hope you enjoy the show as much as I enjoyed putting it together.
